Grandfather Hubert Gardemann founds a painting business.
1968
Purchase of the first truck-mounted access platform for personal use within the painting business.
1972
Two more access platforms are purchased - the beginning of the side business of access platform rental.

30 meters high - the largest truck-mounted access platform is put on the market.
1978
The fleet is expanded with the addition of both scissor and telescoping access platforms.
1982
The beginning of the nationwide rental service - the first Gardemann branch office is opened in Cologne.
1983
Gardemann moves into its new headquarters in Alpen and begins building its nationwide rental network.

60 meters high - The highest truck-mounted access platform in the world at the time is put into operation.

Gardemann opens its now 10th hire centre in Essen.

Gardemann once again moves into new headquarters in Alpen.
1991
The first hire centre in the former East Germany is opened in Gröbers, near Halle/Leipzig.
1992
The Gardemann hire fleet surpasses the thousand mark - with more than 1,000 access platforms in 149 different models.
1997
Gardemann is acquired by BRAMBLES, a global provider of professional industrial services.
1998
The hire fleet now consists of over 1,500 access platforms in 240 variations.
1999
The 20th Gardemann hire centre in Germany is opened in Stuttgart.
2001
100 meters high - Gardemann is the first rental company to have the highest access platform in the world in its fleet.
2002
Opening of the Gardemann hire centre in Mönchengladbach.
Change of Ownership
On August 8, 2002, Brambles, as the previous sole owner, sold its majority stake in Gardemann to the former Brambles managers Christian van Eeden und Maarten Mijnlieff.
2003
New hire centres in the Rhein-Main metropolis - the first Gardemann hire centre in Frankurt-Mitte is opened.
2004
Gardemann invests in more than 100 new access platforms, among them a new generation of self-driven, telescoping access platforms.
2005
"First buckle up, then go!" - in line with this motto, Gardemann equips all of its truck-mounted access platforms, which number more than 300, with safety belts. The goal - even more safety for the workers in the basket.
2006
The football World Cup in Germany bestowed a fantastic, never-before-seen feeling of jubilation and enthusiasm upon the country. In many stadiums, Gardemann's clients are involved in the developmental phase and the remodelling effort using our access platforms.
On November 9, 2006, the Lavendon Group plc., Europe's market leader in the rental of powered access platforms, announces the acquisition of the Gardemann Arbeitsbühnen GmbH.
2008
Integration of Zoom (Deutschland) GmbH, Frankfurt into the Gardemann Arbeitsbühen GmbH. Gardemann becomes the largest provider of powered access platforms in Germany, with more than 4,500 access platforms at over 40 hire centres nationwide.
